animate! synopsis
The big issues addressed in an abstract animation ripe with optically manipulated hand-painted film. Employing the associative logic of dream it creates a dazzling reverie of colour and pattern.
short synopsis
An exploration of visual music and the relationships of the city and the cave; reflecting the actions of memory and thought through the rhythmic interplay of colours, textures and shapes painted directly onto film and manipulated photographically using an optical printer.
Free flowing, organic and visceral. Intricately edited and syncopated by the movement of reflected and refracted light on the film surface. Inspired by the writings of Gaston Bachelard, Georges Bataille and William Burroughs… Organic, urban, abstract Pop/Op-Art.
