animate! synopsis

Fairground ride becomes human Zoetrope as we marvel at the joy and pain of the cycle of life, from birth to death and everything inbetween. All displayed within a real giant spinning barrel in three minutes and one shot.

short biography

Mark Simon Hewis studied Fine Art and Photography before gaining an MA in Animation at the Royal College of Art in 2003. He went on to make the hybrid The Chihuahua Messiah with Film London’s Pulse scheme, which won the Fortean Times Film of the Year Award and was runner-up for the BBC Filmmaker of the Year Award. He lives in Bristol, and is currently in production of his first live-action fiction short film God & Dave for BBC3.
