6 new animate! tv commissions in 2006
There were 155 submissions to animate! tv’s latest commissioning round. Six projects, three from London and three from rest-of-UK, have been chosen to share the annual production funding provided by Arts Council England and Channel 4 Television.
The artists in animate! tv’s new slate for 2006 are Andy Martin End of the Street, John Thomson & Alison Craighead Flat Earth, Let Me Feel Your Finger First Francis, Semiconductor Magnetic Movie, Mark Simon Hewis Round-Up. and David Alexander Anderson The Tongue of the Hidden.
Their projects will be completed in summer 2007 and broadcast by Channel 4 in the autumn.
The animate! advisory selection team included:
- Judith Goddard artist working in video & photography, and lecturer at The Slade
- Judith Winter Curator at mima Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art
- Run Wrake illustrator and animator, including two animate! tv commissions
- Ruth Fielding Animation Consultant to Channel 4, and producer at Lupus Films
- Gary Thomas Head of Moving Image Visual Arts at Arts Council England
- Jacqui Davies Line Producer for animate! commissions, and independent producer
- Gareth Evans animate! Editor, Editor Vertigo magazine, and independent programmer
- Philip Ilson animate! Coordinator, and Halloween Film Festival
- Dick Arnall animate! Producer, and producer at Finetake
